What does a modem do?

Modem means modulating and demodulating.... ( hence the name MODEM).... Ur modulator and demodulator must be outta synch... thats why u have this problem.... Buying a new one is ur only option, its also not so costly.... Try buyin a MAC airport if u have a good budget.... or try butin ordinary ones....
