Compaq Desktop Keyboard and Mouse Not Working After I Unplugged It?

So I have a compaq desktop, not exactly sure which type exactly but after i disconnected the whole computer to move it to a new desk and I plugged in the keyboard and the mouse, the stopped working. Can someone help me out? What's Wrong? Do I have to buy a new mouse and keyboard? Usually a light on the keyboard turns on when the computer is on and that doesn't work. They are both dead.
